Consumer laptops featuring Intel's 2nd generation Core CPUs have already fallen below the $1,000 mark, but now there is an opportunity to score a business model discount laptop from Lenovo. On the company's website they are currently offering savings up to 15% on a variety of laptops with the new chips, and some can be found for well under the $1,000 price tag.

The markdowns are extensive on some models. The cheapest is the Edge series E520, which has been marked down from $1,843 to $699. That's for the Core i3 version, but the Core i5 is being offered with 1GB AMD Mobility Radeon graphics for not much more at $729. Savings on some of the higher end models are also impressive. The W series is the flagship of the new Thinkpad range, with a Core i7 option and premium features like Nvidia Optimus graphics, SSD and Gigabit Ethernet for $3,699, discounted from $4,953.
